Religion for our Time - Now available for purchase.

Further to my email of yesterday, I have now viewed the tape.  It only has a total of 7.36 mins of David on the screen, but he narrates throughout, so you'd get a good 40mns of audio as well.  I felt there was a lot to take in to be honest as they try to cover all religions into one and I confess I kind of lost the plot half way through !  But the photography is stunning and they have footage from India, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Rome, etc. and countless shots of water -- seas, lakes, waterfalls... very relaxing.

Though this documentary is only being released this year, it was actually recorded in the summer of 1997. David looked superb.  Blue T-shirt, beige trousers and pink jacket.  There was 3.28mns of studio time (him talking in front of screen where they showed various nature things) and 4.08mns of him actually BEING in nature, in woodlands, by water-falls, etc. (mostly filmed in Wales I believe). This was absolutely gorgeous.  Also glimpses of him in Hyde Park and at the fruit market, etc. .

Here is is what the synopsis reads at the back of the tape:

"Could it be that religion as we know it is now in the evening of its day, casting its shadows across a world different from what it was when born?  Do we need religion in this new millennium?  If so, why and of what kind?

Real religion must be individual, relating to one's own spirituality.  Each of us must be free to find his own way to spiritual truth.  Nature: the source of everything, including our own selves, is at the heart of everything, even religion.

In this video international actor David Soul, son of a traditional minister, leads us through a series of questions to which in Theosophy he has discovered some answers.  They help us to understand something of our true nature and our relationship to the inner divinity of universal Being.  The great religions have been based on these truths but they have often been overlaid by superstitious obscurities.  Nature, however, even if shyly preserves some inner secrets, can never deceive us.  She is the sure base for RELIGION OF OUR TIME.".

Total running time: 48.30 mins.

There is a small (1" x 1") photo of David from 97, at the back of the video jacket, wearing his famous peach/pink jacket (but printed the wrong way round !!!).

They have NO tapes available in NTSC so US members please note that you would need to get the tape converted at your own costs.  As this is a charity, the DSAC would not be allowed to supply copies as it'd be a breach of (c) since they are selling it to recover their costs on producing this.
