It's hard to believe it's already May. Maybe it's age that makes the time go faster or maybe it's just doing the play day after day that does it. 225 performances of "Comic Potential" and counting. Anyway, it all goes so fast and the priorities get tested. I want to thank everyone who managed to make it to the Chiller Convention in New Jersey and special thanks to those who came from so far away... Arizona, the midwest.. and New Zealand, would you believe? I'm not real comfortable at these kinds of events so it was nice for me to have some folks there I knew. You were all very gracious. The event for me really was purely about making money for the kids... to put into their education. It's the only way that signing my name so many times is given any real value. Let's just say that my reasons for going were satisfied. The Idaho bunch and their mother were very pleased. Well, we of the DSAC have come to another crossroads. Our beloved Sylvie who has unselfishly devoted so much of her time and energies to building relationships within the DSAC is moving on to new challenges. She has always been drawn to serving others and now she is embarking on a new adventure that will allow her to teach the blind... and I don't mean those of us who are reading this note. I am personally very excited for her and supportive of her choice and I know you join me in wishing her Godspeed and fulfilment. This of course means that Sylvie will no longer be involved in building and nurturing the DSAC. Others will be stepping into her shoes. The Newsletter as you have come to know it will cease to exist as it has, although there will continue to be a printed collection of some of the more personal letters and comments that you wish to share among yourselves. But NEWS and information and events, ect. will now be transferred to the net. Keith White has graciously accepted taking over Sylvie's duties and of course our hero, Kirsten Dinkel... the computer whiz, will continue to update the website. Though we are sad in a way to lose the day to day involvement of Sylvie, this development can also be a great new challenge for all of us. The web gives us instant communication possibilities. I will try to keep Keith and Kirsten apprised of all new developments on my end and I think the opportunities we will have to expand the reach and purpose of the DSAC... to bring friends together in service to others... will continue to grow. The DSAC is truly growing up... and thanks to the efforts of Sylvie Macle, it's now primed to take the spirit of community that she has created to those around the world who are looking for a safe place to be. I enclose a press-release which I have given to the Dynamic Earth Theatre in Edinburgh:
We are very excited about this development and will be filming the play as well for future broadcast on television AND... the internet. As more develops around this story, I will let you all know. Doing "Fool For Love" means that I will have to put plans for a new album on the back burner... just for the time being. I gotta keep reminding myself that TIME is my ally as long as I don't try to do too many things at the same time. This project complete with music, effects, projection is a real handful and there's no way I can split my energies between an album and this project and I hope to have either one be a quality product. Once again, I'm sure you all join me in a deep vote of gratitude to Sylvie. For her contribution to so many I really think we ought to rename the "club"... It really ought to be called SMAC. We do appreciate her and want her to know that we are all with her in her new venture.
