Comic Potential - The Finale
By Eunice
Hi Folks
I traveled from Burnley to London on Friday, 2nd June to see the final performances of Comic Potential, which I have seen ten times in total. I saw the play on the Friday night and after the performance spoke to David, who gave me a kiss and a hug, and other members of the cast who remembered me from my previous visits. I watched the play again on the Saturday night, which was the final performance and you could see at the curtain call that the entire cast had tears in their eyes. They also received a standing ovation, which was overwhelming. I then went to the stage door with other fans and when David appeared he signed a few autographs and talked to us for a few minutes. I got yet another kiss from him!! He then left for a party with the rest of the cast, but not before I managed to call out to Alexa who was sitting by the window in his dressing room. At this point I saw a Ford Gran Torino drive into the street, which was immediately surrounded by everybody. I spoke to the driver, David Delfouneso, who is a member of the DSAC and whom I have met before. I asked him if I could sit in the Torino to have my photo taken, which he kindly agreed to.
When I told him the name of the hotel I was stopping in with Lorna Cowler he said he knew where it was and would drive us there in the Torino. Well, you could have knocked me down with a feather!! As I found getting into the back of the car quite difficult he let me sit in the front. David decided to take us round London first and it was great. Everywhere we went people couldn't believe their eyes and kept cheering. Then when we stopped at traffic lights cars would pull alongside us and shout 'It's Starsky and Hutch's car.' I felt like a famous person and was thrilled to bits. I had to keep pinching myself as we drove around for nearly an hour. It was great! I'd had a wonderful night and another weekend to remember. Whenever I see David I have a smashing time and I am looking forward to Liverpool later this month. To all my friends in the DSAC - it 's great to meet up on these weekends. Thanks for being there!
As a footnote to this I can also vouch for the quality of the Ford Torino owned by David D. He has lovingly restored it and it looks fabulous - Keith.
