Most of the filming took place in the heart of the Czech Republic, in lush countryside, 2 hours South of Prague - in an area which is typical of central Europe. There can be found the castle of Hluboka - near the Australien Border. There is a lot of sculptured wood all the way to the ceiling, antique furniture, crystal chandeliers, an art gallery... built in the 13th century.
The story is supposed to take place on an imaginary island called Kroenia. The storyline goes as follows: a young Parisian midwife (Belgian actress Marie Verdie, 26) is happily married to a doctor and has everything going for her, but she keeps having nightmares: she sees people being murdered. In reality, she is the key figure in a radical political change for a country that she doesn't even know: Kroenia. Kroenia has just become independent again and to protect it from its threatening neighbours, the President Baruk has decided to make it a monarchy again. And it happens that the legal heir to the throne, Alexandra Arkadine, is Sandra herself who doesn't know that she has been adopted as a child, when her real parents, the latest Queen and King of Kroenia, were murdered. From then on there will be manipulations, compromises, true romance, and love-at-fist-sights, all mixed up together to 'give us one of the most adventurous and romantic scripts written in years.'. David plays the role of the wicked Zoltan Kouros, a powerful and wealthy Kroenian man who comes back to take revenge as his family has been destroyed and ruined financially.
Sandra spends the whole series looking for her identity. Her journey will be long, full of questions, sorrows, happinesses, suffering. A hard emotional journey that will shape her into a new Queen of whom much will be asked. She discovers power, money, and how much influence one can have with it. And there is an open fight with Kouros, a dangerous business man, who, out of revenge, wants to destroy anyone left from the Arkadine family. |
